About Us

The Knoxville Swing Dance Association is a non-profit organization with this two fold purpose:
  • to promote dancing
  • to encourage volunteerism
We host lessons and social dances twice a week or more, and encourage students to take advantage of the learning environment of our dance scene. Students are also highly encouraged to get to know people, and get involved in the social fabric of the group. Once a year, usually in the second weekend in October, we host a big dance called a Lindy Exchange, where we invite dancers from all over the country to dance in Knoxville for a weekend. This works similar to being an exchange student, only it is for dancing and lasts one weekend rather than a semester. It is also a great opportunity to meet dancers from other cities. In 2007, people from Atlanta, Asheville, Kentucky, Ohio, and as far away as Florida and California came to the Knoxville Lindy Exchange. Visit our exchange page for more information about last year's exchange and next year's exchange. We have many forms of communication, including this website. We also send out weekly emails to update people on what is happening in the world of swing dancing. Our Discussion Forums contain a plethora of topics on swing dancing and our local swing dance scene.
